Dr. Lotus was born in Lexington, KY and grew up in Rockland County, NY where her parents bred Akitas for over a decade, selecting for temperament and conformation. She graduated from Cornell’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences in 1999 and from Cornell’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. She completed a residency with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Weill Cornell Medical College and The Rockefeller University in 2006 through which she gained extensive experience with rodents, rabbits, ferrets, pigs, and non- human primates. She has a combined 22 years of experience in general dog/cat veterinary practice, at home hospice and euthanasia for dogs and cats, as a Lasix veterinarian for the New York Racing Association and in cancer, cardiovascular disease and sepsis research for Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, Northwell Health and Hackensack Meridian Health. She gains the greatest satisfaction from strengthening the pet-owner bond by keeping pets happy and healthy and minimizing pain and distress. She lives in Sea Cliff with her youngest daughter and mini lop rabbit Teddy.
